Iranian Industrial Design:

Newdesign.ir is a dynamic Persian website in the filed of Industrial Design. The contents are sent by members who have personal profile including their personal information, their designs and a history of their activities in the website, as well.

Newdesign.ir is neither dependent to a University nor an organization. The main idea of this website was developed in the year 2006 by two University of Tehran’s students, naming Ali Sheikhpour Ghasseminia and Mahdi Moghimi. Prior, there was no industrial design website on the internet in Farsi. Although there was much information about it on other Iranian websites or blogs, they were unsearchable and uncategorized. Now after more than 5925 days of advancement, we have a huge database of I.D. related contents including 1721 categorized articles, 220 useful links and gigantic database of 8505 Persian industrial designers who not only receive newsletters about our news and updates but also participate in our website’s activities. All articles and contents are modified, reviewed, and revised by website moderators before being published.

We have also developed a clever dynamic glossary of technical words of industrial design and related topics. We started from 300 words but it is programmed to count and report search keys and let the moderators develop and edit its contents according to new search keys and numbers of repetitive searches, though. Today our glossary contains 1070 words and about 3 words a day are being added daily.

Having a page view of 6207 daily, Newdesign.ir has become a public center for Persian industrial designers. Many contracts and official relations are started through our website using its data and profiles. This makes our website a fantastic place for industrial design advertisements. Articles, categories, histories and profiles of members are about 5500 pages totally and they are rocketing continuously.

Programming of Newdesign.ir is completely done by Ali Sheikhpour Ghasseminia according to the standards of SEO (search engine optimization). Half of daily incoming visitors are referred by our links in Google and other search engines.

Having a lot of English websites of I.D., we decided to concentrate mainly on just Farsi moreover we encourage our members and visitors to surf English sites by offering them useful daily links. We have gathered 220 links together in our database so far.

Newdesign.ir is aiming at Sustainability which is a hot topic in the world of ID nowadays, but due to the lack of communication, and abundance of energy in Iran, Iran has not entered into this vast stream. Lack of water, pollution, along with cultural dilemmas are moving forward into Iranian society. These will make sustainability the future for Iran too. Although copying international trends has always been common practice in Iran, young Iranian designers must make their own contribution to the world and their own society. We can be the way through which young Iranian designers can bridge into the world, and its latest progressions.
